Service Fees
To maintain high service standards and ensure a smooth car rental experience, TheTripTime may apply certain service-related fees in addition to the base rental price. These fees vary by location, vehicle type, and selected services and are always disclosed before final confirmation.
1. Booking Service Fee
A standard booking service fee of up to $20 may apply per reservation. This fee covers reservation processing, supplier coordination, and customer support services.
2. Reservation Modification Fee
Changes requested after booking confirmation—such as date adjustments, pickup or drop-off location changes, or vehicle category changes—may incur a modification fee of up to $25, in addition to any price difference.
3. Cancellation Fee
If a reservation is canceled after confirmation, the following service charges may apply:
- More than 72 hours before pickup: Up to $10
- 48–72 hours before pickup: Up to $25
- Less than 48 hours before pickup: Up to $50
- No-show or failure to cancel: Up to 100% of the rental amount
4. Additional Driver Fee
An additional authorized driver may be added for a daily fee, typically around $15 per day. All additional drivers must meet age, license, and eligibility requirements.
5. Late Return Charges
Vehicles returned after the agreed return time may incur late fees, usually calculated hourly, with a maximum charge equivalent to one additional rental day.
6. Early Pickup Fee
Requests to pick up a vehicle earlier than the scheduled time may be subject to an early pickup service fee of approximately $20, depending on availability and location.
7. Fuel Service Charges
Most rentals follow a “Full-to-Full” fuel policy. Vehicles returned without a full tank may incur refueling charges based on fuel cost plus a service fee. Refilling the tank prior to return is recommended.
8. GPS & Optional Equipment Fees
Optional accessories such as GPS units, child seats, booster seats, or ski racks may be rented for an additional daily fee, generally ranging from $10 to $15 per item.
9. Airport Location Surcharge
Rentals picked up at airport locations may include an airport concession or facility fee, typically ranging from $15 to $25, depending on the airport authority.
10. Roadside Assistance Service Fee
Optional roadside assistance coverage may be available for a daily or per-call fee. Services include tire assistance, battery jump-starts, lockout support, and fuel delivery.
11. Toll, Traffic, and Parking Charges
All toll fees, parking charges, traffic violations, and fines incurred during the rental period are the responsibility of the renter and may be billed after the rental ends if unpaid.
12. Late Payment Service Fee
If rental charges are not settled within the specified time frame, a late payment service fee of $10–$20 may be applied, depending on payment method and delay duration.
13. Taxes & Government-Imposed Fees
Applicable state, local, and government taxes or surcharges are added to the rental cost based on the pickup location and prevailing regulations.
14. Vehicle Cleaning Fee
Vehicles returned with excessive dirt, stains, pet hair, or odors may incur a cleaning fee ranging from $50 to $100, depending on the level of cleaning required.
15. Lost or Damaged Key Charges
Lost, damaged, or unreturned vehicle keys may result in replacement or reprogramming fees, typically ranging from $75 to $150 based on vehicle type.
